The Essence of Me
& the Transformation of a Butterfly

Have you thought about the beauty of butterflies?
It isn’t just found in the flutter of their flight or the watercolor of their wings.

Butterflies are resilient, everchanging, fierce, and fragile.

From humble beginnings to radiant possibilities, the butterfly reflects so many facets of life through its metamorphosis. You have the same potential ahead of you. From caterpillar to cosmic wonder, metamorphosis is at your fingertips.

Who Is Dr. Marjha Hunt?

My approach to life aligns closely with my approach to work, with humility as the grounding force at the center of it all.

My Sagittarian nature supports me at work and play in creating an honest and welcoming presence for those around me. I’d like to invite you in to see how the core of my being may align with your hope for healing.

Personal

I was born and raised in the Bay Area and moved to Sacramento as an adult. My parents did foster care and I was always focused on improving the lives and happiness of those around me from a young age.

While navigating the world of relationships for myself and others from a young age, I have always been viewed as the peacekeeper, the keeper of secrets, and the matchmaker. In my adult life, I share two amazing children with my partner. We love spending time together playing games, listening to music, and traveling, and ALWAYS finding something to laugh about.

When someone struggles, I want to be there.

From listening, to problem-solving, helping others matters to me.

I am passionate about music and family.

I genuinely believe laughter is the best medicine and radical acceptance for every being and lifestyle is at the center of healing.

Professional

My career has held so much depth. I am grateful to have gained much experience during my years with mental health as I’ve moved through various roles.

My first passion role was with Gender Health Center, specializing in partnerships, alternative lifestyles, LGBTQIA+, and People of Color. I’ve also been a therapist with Hope Cooperative (formally TLCS, Inc.) working with individuals, relationships, and transition-age youth. I spent time in a leadership role and became both the Program Manager of the 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Respite Center and the Interim Program Director of their Triage Navigator Program.

Currently, I am a therapist working with adults, partnerships, and families, at Kaiser Permanente, as well as a professor at Alliant International University.

I’m passionate about the courses I teach which include: Sex therapy and cultural diversity, in Marital and Family Therapy.

I have also guest-lectured about Narrative Therapy for UC Davis Psychiatry residents.

Healing and affirmation have given me the guidance I need to move forward along this path with humor and humility. I want to help you find your most authentic essence with supportive affirmation- from identity, aspirations, and experiences to kinks and creativity, step into this sphere of acceptance with expert vulnerability.

I am a student of healing, ready to bring my experiences to witness your growth into an expert of your own essence.

My promise to you.

My promise to you is that in these walls, you will find the space to seek your most vulnerable self. Within these walls, you will be encouraged to find healing in the ways you need most through radical acceptance, encouragement, support, and humor. I will see you as you are and be right there alongside you, raw, and rooting for you.

You will not walk between these walls alone, even when the work is yours to do.
I will see you and your wounds. For each part and the whole of what’s to come.
You are real, right here and right now, and it is my promise to be real with you too.

When you bring your softness into this space, I will honor it.

You will be seen here, for all that you are.
